The journey to support young entrepreneurs in Mpanda, Tanzania, has reached an exciting milestone. After facing a significant funding gap, we successfully raised enough money to complete the Tuelimike Entrepreneurship Processing Centre. This centre will serve as a vital space where young entrepreneurs, especially women, can develop and produce their products. The story of this project is one of community collaboration, resilience, and hope for a brighter economic future.

The Background of Tuelimike and Its Mission
Tuelimike is a not-for-profit community group based in Mpanda, Tanzania. The organization focuses on empowering young people, particularly young women, by providing entrepreneurship training and support. I had the privilege to work closely with Tuelimike, helping with teacher training and developing programs tailored to young women entrepreneurs.
The entrepreneurship program encourages participants to create products that reflect local culture and resources. These include batik fabric, peanut butter, jewelry, and kitoto pouches. The goal is to equip young entrepreneurs with skills and a space to produce and market their goods, fostering economic independence and community development.
Challenges Faced During Construction
The construction of the Entrepreneurship Processing Centre began with great enthusiasm. The building was designed to be a hub where young entrepreneurs could gather, learn, and manufacture their products. Unfortunately, the project hit a roadblock when the Tuelimike community team ran out of funding before the building was completed.
This funding shortfall threatened to stall the entire initiative, leaving the young entrepreneurs without a dedicated space to grow their businesses. The community reached out to us, hoping we could help raise the necessary funds to finish the centre.
How We Raised the Funds
Raising funds for community projects in rural areas can be challenging. Yet, through the generosity and support of a broad network of donors, local supporters, and friends of Tuelimike, we managed to gather the needed resources.
What the Centre Will Offer
Once completed, the Tuelimike Entrepreneurship Processing Centre will provide:
Workspace for production of batik fabric, peanut butter, jewelry, kitoto pouches, and other locally made products.
Training rooms where workshops and skill-building sessions will be held.
Access to resources such as tools, equipment, and mentorship.
This centre will become a cornerstone for young entrepreneurs to build sustainable businesses and contribute to the local economy.
Impact on Young Women Entrepreneurs
The entrepreneurship program has a special focus on young women, who often face more barriers to economic participation. By providing training and a dedicated space, the centre will help them:
Gain practical skills in production and business management.
Increase their income through sales of their products.
Build confidence and leadership abilities.
Connect with other entrepreneurs and mentors.
Contribute to their families and communities.

The centre will be a place where young women can turn their ideas into reality and create lasting change.
